Research / engineering / field work

Projects

NWSMS projects are where operating, engineering, experimentation, and education meet. This area will document systems we build, test, improve, and use in the field.

01

Satellite systems

Tracking, Doppler correction, station automation, full-duplex operating systems, antenna control, telemetry, and dedicated receive/transmit chains for amateur and research satellites.

02

Microwave

Upper-band station development, terrestrial links, transverters, amplifiers, feed systems, dishes, propagation experiments, and practical methods for extending reliable communication at microwave frequencies.

03

Antennas + RF

Directional antennas, feed systems, matching networks, RF switching, filters, measurement techniques, and repeatable construction methods that can be shared with other builders.

04

Software + instrumentation

Software-defined radio, browser-accessible receivers, embedded controllers, station telemetry, test equipment integration, logging, automation, and tools that make complex radio systems easier to understand and operate.

05

Education + field work

Documentation, presentations, operating guides, demonstrations, portable stations, measurements, and hands-on projects intended to turn technical information into practical skill.

Project documentation is being added progressively. We would rather publish useful measurements, schematics, code, operating notes, and lessons learned than empty project cards.
